Two video's I'm obsessed with.

Maybe not obsessed, but I just really enjoy them.

Cutest proposal ever. I hope my future husband puts this
much thought into when he proposes to me!

And this, just because it's funny.

Here's to Two!

First: Please enjoy this sweet picture from my childhood.
Those bangs. That outfit. WOOF!

Today. 12.12.12.
Marks the last time we will have a "same" number date.
But most importantly it's the day my "Brother"/ Best Friend since Kindergarten
leaves on his mission!
Seriously this kid is the greatest, and he will be the best missionary!

Yes. I am aware of the fact that I am a baby. But I love this picture.
I'm so proud of Nick for choosing to serve a mission!
The people of Argentina are so lucky!

Just some random memories:
1. The many clubs we started
2. Nick was trying to show off while we were reading
in our third grade class...and got gum stuck
in his eyebrow.
3. We always had the same things. Thanks to our momma's

Good luck Nick! See you in two!

It seriously was the best! I love them!
Also, a video will be posted soon to explain this!

And this to start the month out right!

The World Wide Web

So maybe no one else will think this is funny...but I love it.
It's pretty humiliating, but it describes me and my 4 out of 5 best friends from last year.
Enjoy....maybe we are the next Miranda? Just a little bit more normal!
We miss you Mia and wish you could have been there!

P.S. Jenna and I are aware that we can't rap...no need to rub it in.

Choosing to be grateful

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go to another ward and all three of the speakers were talking about gratitude. One person in particular stood out to me. He was talking about all the the hard things his family had been going through recently and the choices that they had been faced with. He summed up his experiences by saying "Choose to be grateful"

I love that! It was mentioned in an earlier blog post about how I have been struggling to make some decisions in my life. They aren't anything big, but they are important to me. Recently, I thought I had my life figured out I was finally set on something. Then something else came up to make me step back and look at my options. Trust me, I am beyond frustrated with things right now, and stressed beyond belief. But I know what every option I choose I will be happy with it. I'm choosing to be grateful for whichever opportunity is best for me.

President Monson said in a article from the Friend:

"Decisions are constantly before us. To make them wisely, courage is needed.
The courage to say no, the courage to say yes. Decisions determine destiny."

I Want It That Way

Last Night USU had a throwback 90's dance party! There weren't a ton of people but it was a lot of fun!

I love any opportunity to dress up or to dance so last night was a win win!
I wish I would have been older in the 90's so I could have appreciated it
a little bit more. But what I do remember was magical.

1. Boy Bands (N'Sync, Backstreet Boys mainly)
My very first concert was N'sync. Best thing ever!
2. I won't lie, I was obbsessed with Britney Spears (to bad she when psycho)
and Aaron Carter. I still remember a lot of their songs word for word!
3. Lizzie McGuire. Dug. Boy Meets World. Recess. Need I say more?
4. Easy Bake Oven. I loved mine!
5. Tamagotchi's, Giga Pets, and those Creepy Furby's.
Those were just a few of my favorite things! I miss the 90's, so it was nice to relive some of
the wonderful music and styles last night!

Happy Day After

This orange space suit will forever go down in history.
I didn't do too much for Halloween.
Tuesday night was classic skating at the Fun Park,
everyone dressed up and we skated for hours, it was a blast!
Actual Halloween day, I trick or treated with Maddie J,
but we only made it to Cait's house.
Halloween is fun, but I'm ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
I hope everyone had a great Halloween day!

five minutes to midnight

Last night Brit and I went to a concert! It was crazy, but so much fun! We were able to see Parachute, Boys Like Girls, and All American Rejects! Each band had so much energy, and we were on the floor going crazy with everyone else! Seriously it was one of the best concert's I have been to!
While we were at the concert we were able to meet up with my friend Devanie, and our
friend Moxie/Tiffany.

Every band was so amazing!
Parachute
All American Rejects

Why You Should Work At Oakcrest

20 Reasons to Work at Oakcrest.
  1. You make best friends for a life time!
  2. You get an awesome Camp name
  3. The Women's Committee is amazing! They are your mom's away from home!
  4. You're prepared to have 5 children at once after this :)
  5. You are fed breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everyday.
  6. You have a shirt to wear monday-friday. Getting ready has never been easier.
  7. You learn so much about yourself.
  8. You get paid for having fun.
  9. You're constantly accompanied with the spirit
  10. Even though you haven't showered in days campers still think your are the prettiest human alive.
  11. You literally are prepared for almost any situation.
  12. There is never a dull moment
  13. Sleeping is overrated.
  14. Memories will last a lifetime.
  15. The girls that come to this camp are truly amazing!
  16. Blessings
  17. You get to teach the gospel.
  18. Foam Slide!
  19. Pre mission experience.
  20. Miracles aren't rare because you see them everywhere.
This list could go on forever! I literally wouldn't take back my summer at Oakcrest. I know it has made me who I am today, and has taught me that I can make it through thick and thin as long as I put my trust in the Savior. Who knows maybe I will end up there again next summer. It is an opportunity of a lifetime.

To apply visit: oakcrestcamp.org  for more information.

Just some videos from this summer:

Overwhelmed.

The title tells exactly how I am feeling right now. I don't know what it is but lately I have felt so much pressure. Between school, work, dating and deciding what to do next with my life. I literally feel stuck. If it wasn't for the speaker from Religion in Life and our Fireside Sunday
I probably would have lost my sanity by now.
-------
Connie Gunnell was the speaker from Religion in Life on Friday. She told a story
about how she had been married to her husband for about a year when he
passed away in a car accident. She talked about how she has struggled
but has found  happiness through serving people. This lady is amazing!
She went on a mission, and has been to Africa three times, and plans
to go again this coming summer. She ended her talk by saying:

"If you are feeling lost or confused, serve someone."

Holy cow did I need to hear that.
-----
Over these last few months my friend and I have been thinking about doing a humanitarian
trip to Zimbabwe, Africa. I know it is something that I wanted to do, but wasn't
100% set on it. Until she said that statement above.
Though it didn't exactly tell me what I should do next semester or with the rest
of my life, it did confirm to me that I need to forget about my worries and find
someone to serve. Whether it's in Africa or somewhere local I know it's what
I need to do.

I know is that I need to take the theme I taught for ten weeks into my own life.
"Trust In Him"
When I do that I know everything will work out. He knows my life better than I do,
and I know he will bring me to happiness.

I Stand All Amazed

This is a few of my Oakcrest girls singing "Christ is the Reason" I thought it was appropriate for this post. Enjoy.

I am so blessed to have the gospel in my life. I had the opportunity
to watch the General Relief Society broadcast this past weekend, which you can watch Here . It was powerful! I noticed majority of the speakers talked about the Atonement and the impact that it has on our lives. One of my favorite talks came from Sister Linda K. Burton. Who talked about 3 principles
of the atonement.
1. All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement.
-The suffering and trials we go through here are all apart of our growth
2. The power of the atonement can help us overcome the natural man, and make us disciples of Christ.
-I love that! We have the power to overcome the world, and follow our Savior.
3. The atonement is the greatest evidence we have to show that Heavenly Father loves His Children.
-Our loving Heavenly Father sent His perfect son here for us. To take on everything we go through her on earth. I am so grateful for that!
Christ is the reason we are able to live with Him again! I am so grateful he was able to take the world upon himself. I know when we feel alone, scared, or confused He will be there to comfort us because He knows exactly what we are going through. It's truly a marvelous feeling. I love my Heavenly Father!

Half birthday weekend

First off, we are so blessed to have so many temples here on this earth. It's an amazing feeling to know we have the privilege to go to the temple to help us feel the love our Savior has for us! It was amazing to be able to attend the temple dedication on Sunday. Each of those speakers were truly inspired. I attended the 2nd session and one of my favorite lines came from President Packer when he said that he has traveled over two and a half million miles, and the first thing that has always been on his mind was serving and following Jesus Christ. I loved that I think we can each apply it to our lives. If we put Him first we will truly be blessed!

All summer long all of the USU oakies talked about getting together to have dinner at the domestic married couple's abode. Lucky for me my half birthday happened to fall on the day we decided to have this little dinner party. Maddie J and Cait were kind enough to get me a present, which included:
-half a deck of cards
-Half of a T-shirt
-Half of a book
-and a kitten book
They also sang me half of the birthday song. (Both the original version & the Oakcrest version). It was wonderful! After dinner we had a unit prayer together. It was so nice to be with these girls and feel a spirit similar to the one we had at Oakcrest. I love each and everyone of you! Thank you for a wonderful weekend everyone!

Just a few things

First things first. I love Utah State!!! I am so happy that I am back here in Logan! I am so blessed to have the roommates and friends that I have here! I don't think they realize the impact they have on me! Especially my roommie Tarah. I honestly don't know where I would be with out her and her advice!
It is nice to have 5 of the 6 of us back here in Logan! I miss you a ton Mia, but I know you are where you are supposed to be and that you are a rock star! I love these girls to death! I'm also lucky to have awesome roommates again this year! It's such a blessing to have wonderful examples always around me! I am a lucky girl!
Besides having awesome roommates, I have some of my awesome Oakcrest friends here! It has been so much fun having them around! They are some of the strongest girls I have ever met, and I am so incredibly grateful for the influence they have made on my life!!

Also, welcome home Elder Gibson! I can't wait to hear all of your stories!

I am in love with this song right now!

Introducing Bridge Boarding

Earlier this week my friend Dustin told me he wanted to take me Bridge Boarding.
I agreed to go but I didn't even know what I was getting myself into.
After trying it I can say it is the most terrifying and thrilling thing
It is just like wake boarding except for a few things:
1. Instead of being tied to a boat, the rope is tied to a bridge (hence the name)
2. Instead of being on a lake, it takes place in a rushing river
3. You wear awesome tennis shoes instead of being strapped to the board
4. It's the best alternative if you don't have a boat.

Hopefully I will get better as time goes on....and before it's cold!
You can tell I'm a noob and just learning
and Dustin is on his way to going professional?

The Best 11 Weeks-Oakcrest 2012

I can't promise this will ever be my last post about Oakcrest....but I feel like this is a good way to wrap it up for awhile:

If you have some freetime go ahead and watch this video.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

It's Wednesday....

Do you know what that means?

SNAP-BACK HAT WEDNESDAY!!!

Really though.....if you are reading this and not wearing a snap back hat I'm really disappointed. If you don't have one invest in one because it will change your life.

Benefits of wearing a snapback:
1. Instant thug mode (picture above)
2. Covers up that nasty greasy hair
3. Everyone looks up to you
4. You don't have to do your hair!
5. All the cool kids are doing it
6. It's a new trend in the making...you could be the one to help start it!
7. It helps your rapping skills.(video coming)
8. Saves you so much time in the morning
9. Brings a smile to your face
10. Changes your life.

also, if you can't tell I don't have a life....so random blog posts like this one are to be expected.

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Welp....it's official....

I'm bored.
Right now I would be finishing my kaper and getting ready for dinner with my new group of girls. But instead I'm enjoying my last week at home! Don't get me wrong it's great and I love being back, but I honestly don't know what to do with myself with all of this freetime.

While sitting here I stole this list from Ashlee's blog......you can check her blog out here

You know you're a counselor at Oakcrest when:
  • no matter how hard you try to avoid it, you will begin talking like a 14 year old girl and say things like, mo defs, totes, perf, supes--it's inevitable.
  • shower time with your friends is the best of times.
  • shower puppets are a must for shower entertainment.
  • when you go back to the 'real world' you don't know how to interact with normal people your own age.
  • you forget how to sing "i am a child of god" normal.
  • it's an exciting and rare occurrence when you poop.
  • you say "clap, clap, clap" in 'real life' to get people's attention.
  • you pee your pants often.
  • you introduce yourself as your camp name outside of camp.
  • you laugh when you campers go the wrong way on the iron rod and you have the specialist tell them there are rocks or something ahead and make them jump or do something crazy.(mind you, they're blindfolded)
  • you cringe and tend to correct people who say non oak-apprope words.
  • you're prepared to have 5 or 14 kids at once.
  • it's rare that your boogers come out any other color than black.
  • a knock on the door in the middle of the night scares the day lights out of you.
  • showering more than once on the weekends seems like a chore.
  • you sit on the toilet more than you need just to take in the face that you have some alone time for a minute.
  • you see problems in your life and think "i should do a unit prayer on that"
  • you go to the bathroom at home and are upset that there are no bathroom quotes to read.
  • you look forward to going to the bathroom on monday's to read the new quotes.
  • whenever a girl starts singing a song you panic and think, "is that oak-apprope?"
  • you brag about your hairy legs/armpits
  • you do head counts to make sure everyone is there when you're home.
  • you do table chants on your kitchen table.
  • you are dying to go to the "city". aka kamas.
  • you make costumes out of butcher paper.
  • you have goose's stand up comedy memorized and mouth it on thursday nights.
  • treehut is the 'great and spacious building"
  • your roomies cabin gets blamed by your girls for being too loud, when in reality it was you.
  • you no longer consider miracles rare because you witness them everywhere.
  • Your tamagotchi dies because no one will feed it while you are gone

These last 11 weeks

These last weeks I have been at the happiest place on this entire earth and it's not disneyland! Oakcrest was the best experience of my life. Honestly it was hard and I had times where I just wanted to stop, but I knew Heavenly Father would give me the strength to make it through anything! The good overcame the bad, and all of the miracles and tender mercies I witnessed made it worth my time. No one will really understand everything that I experienced while working at Oakcrest,  except for the wonderful staff I was able to work with. The coolest thing for me was not only watching my girls grow, but feeling myself grow and become closer to my Savior. He truly knows everything we are going through and will send answers and examples to us when we need them most. Some weeks I am convinced my girls were there to help me more than I was to help them. I will miss Oakcrest and I will never forget the memories that were created. But I am excited to move on to the next chapter in my life, whatever it may be I am ready because I trust my Savior.

Love this song.
